Patriotic Patchwork

Good morning everybody!

This week I made a couple of Independence Day projects that I wanted to show you. For both of these items I simply went through my stash of paper scraps and pulled out all the red, white and blue papers I could find. I found out that I had quite a bit, so I picked out several that I thought went well together and the rest went back into my stash box to use later. The only brand new piece I used is the Bazzill Swiss dot blue card stock. That stuff is so pretty. I must get me some more of that!

For the card I punched out some random stars using the large star punch from Stampin’ Up! I roughed up the inside edges of the punched out stars and then backed them with a few different pieces of patterned paper. Then I stitched around each star with my sewing machine before attaching the piece to my card along with a bit more patterned paper, a rub on, and some ribbon to finish it off.

This page was a lot of fun to make. I cut random pieces from the patterned papers I had chosen and attached them to a piece of card stock with a tiny bit of adhesive. Then I machine stitched around each piece with a zig zag stitch to make it look like an Americana patchwork quilt.
Since the background was pretty busy I chose to print out my photos in black and white to tone it down a bit and also so the photos would stand out from the busy colors of the background. I chose to use wallet size photos because I didn’t want to cover up too much of that background I had worked so hard on! 🙂
The photos were taken last year while waiting for the fireworks display to begin.

supplies: card stock: Stampin’ Up!; patterned papers: My Mind’s Eye,Pink Paislee, BoBunny, Little Yellow Bicycle, KI Memories, Basic Grey, 7 Gypsies, Rusty Pickle, and others; rub ons: Making Memories; paper clip embellishment: Lil Davis designs; snaps: Marcella By K; chipboard letters: Stampin’ Up!; acrylic paint: Making Memories; star punch: Stampin’ Up!; journaling pen: Zig

So, what are your plans for the 4th? We plan to watch the fireworks display on Saturday and have a cookout with the Weaver family on Sunday. Fun!

Have a fantastic Independence Day weekend, everyone!
